Relief of allergic rhinitis symptoms
This medication is used for the relief of symptoms such as nasal congestion, sneezing, and runny nose caused by allergic rhinitis.
Adults and adolescents over 12 years old should take 120 mg of fexofenadine hydrochloride once daily orally with water before meals. Elderly patients and those with liver impairment do not require dose adjustment. Patients with renal impairment should take 60 mg orally with water before meals once daily as an initial dose.
Safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established for pediatric patients under 12 years old.
This medication should not be used by patients with allergic reactions to this drug or its components. Caution should be exercised when administering to patients with renal impairment, the elderly, or those with cardiovascular diseases or a history of such conditions. When taking this medication, side effects such as headaches, drowsiness, dizziness, and nausea may occur, so caution is advised. In rare cases, allergic symptoms such as skin rash, urticaria, itching, and difficulty breathing may occur, so if any abnormal symptoms appear, consult a doctor immediately. Since liver function abnormalities may arise, it is advisable to regularly undergo liver function tests. Although this medication does not significantly affect the ability to drive or operate machinery, there may be drowsiness or dizziness in some individuals, so caution is advised. There may be interactions when taken with other medications, especially antifungal agents, antibiotics, antacids, and certain fruit juices, so caution is needed. Fruit juices may reduce the effectiveness of this medication, so it is recommended to take this medication with water. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should consult a doctor before taking this medication, and it is safer for breastfeeding women to avoid it. Safety for children under 12 years old and newborns has not been established, so caution is advised in their use. In case of overdose, symptoms may include dizziness, drowsiness, and dry mouth, and there is no specific antidote, so treatment should be provided based on the symptoms. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and it is advisable not to transfer it to other containers.
