How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage is 1 tablet, taken twice daily. The dosage of this medication should be determined based on the current treatment regimen of each patient, efficacy, and tolerance, such that it does not exceed the maximum recommended daily doses of Empagliflozin 25 mg and Metformin 2000 mg. When patients cannot achieve sufficient blood sugar control with Metformin alone or combined with other medications such as insulin, this medication can be used.

Precautions

This medication helps control blood sugar levels. However, there are several precautions that must be adhered to when taking this medication. First, this medication can cause a dangerous condition called severe lactic acidosis, and should not be used in cases of impaired kidney function, severe infection, dehydration, etc. Also, when used together with insulin or other diabetes medications, there is a risk of hypoglycemia, so caution is advised. This medication should not be used in patients with moderate to severe renal impairment, acute heart problems, severe liver dysfunction, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and those with certain acute illnesses. During the course of treatment, regular monitoring of kidney function should be conducted to ensure there are no abnormalities, and if dehydration, vomiting, diarrhea, etc. occur, a physician should be consulted immediately. This medication can cause urinary tract infections or genital infections, so if symptoms of infection emerge, prompt treatment is necessary. Additionally, this medication may cause fluid volume reduction, thus older adults or patients with low blood pressure should take special care. Vitamin B12 levels may decrease, so if taken long-term, it is advisable to verify through blood tests. Excessive alcohol consumption can increase the risk of adverse effects from this medication, thus alcohol intake should be avoided during treatment. When undergoing surgery or radiological examinations with contrast media, this medication should be temporarily discontinued and resumed only after kidney function is confirmed as normal. This medication is not recommended for children, and dosage adjustments and monitoring of kidney function are necessary for older adults. Finally, while taking this medication, if any unusual symptoms such as fever, pain or swelling around the genital area, skin rash, severe fatigue, etc. occur, immediate consultation with healthcare personnel is required.
