Improvement of hypercholesterolemia (primary, mixed) and treatment of dyslipidemia
This medication is used for patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, especially heterozygous familial and non-familial hypercholesterolemia, and mixed dyslipidemia. It helps lower total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo B protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels in conjunction with dietary changes. It simultaneously increases HDL cholesterol levels, improving lipid balance in the blood. This contributes to a reduction in the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, this medication is effectively used to treat dyslipidemia.
This medication is administered once daily, regardless of meals. The dosage range is between 10/2.5mg and 10/20mg daily, with an initial recommended dose of 10/2.5mg or 10/5mg daily. If further LDL cholesterol reduction is required, dosage adjustments can be made. After starting treatment or adjusting the dose, check serum lipid levels at intervals of 4 weeks or more, with a maximum daily dose of 10/20mg.
This medication contains Rosuvastatin and Ezetimibe and is primarily used to treat hypercholesterolemia. Patients at high risk of muscle pain or myopathy should be particularly cautious before taking this medication, and treatment should be stopped immediately in case of severe muscle pain or rhabdomyolysis. Patients with poor liver function or active liver disease should not use this medication, and liver enzyme levels should be regularly checked; if abnormalities are found, dosage adjustment or discontinuation is necessary. Patients with severely impaired renal function are also prohibited from taking this medication, and those with mildly impaired renal function need to monitor for muscle-related side effects. This medication can increase blood concentration in patients with certain genotypes, so dose adjustments may be required based on patient condition. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as nursing mothers, should not take this medication, and fertile women should use appropriate contraceptive methods during treatment. This medication may interact with other drugs, particularly those currently taking cyclosporine, fibrates, anticoagulants, certain antibiotics, and antifungals should consult their physician. If muscle pain, fatigue, or fever occurs during treatment, patients should inform their doctor immediately, and if necessary, blood tests should be conducted to check for muscle damage. Additionally, this medication should be used with caution in individuals who consume excessive alcohol or have a history of liver disease; regular liver function tests and clinical monitoring are recommended. Caution is needed when driving or operating machinery as dizziness may occur. Use in children and the elderly is not recommended or should be done with caution; the elderly, in particular, are at higher risk for muscle disease and should be monitored closely. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so treatment should be symptomatic and supportive, and tests for liver function and muscle damage should be conducted. This medication contains lactose, so patients with lactose intolerance should not take it. Finally, this medication should be used in conjunction with a dietary plan, and it is important to treat any secondary causes of disease first.
