Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with allergic reactions to this drug or its components. It should be administered with caution to patients with impaired kidney function, elderly individuals, and those with heart-related diseases or a past medical history. Headache is the most commonly reported side effect of this medication, while drowsiness, dizziness, and nausea may also occur. Rarely, hypersensitivity reactions such as fatigue, insomnia, irritability, sleep disturbances, nightmares, skin rashes, hives, itching, angioedema, and breathing difficulties may occur, and if any unusual symptoms arise, a doctor should be consulted immediately. This medication may affect liver function; if symptoms of liver function impairment appear, treatment should be discontinued, and appropriate care should be pursued. Dosage adjustments are necessary for patients with renal failure, and individuals should check for unusual reactions when driving or operating machinery. While interactions with other drugs are generally low, care should be taken as the serum concentration may increase when taken with certain antifungals or antibiotics. Taking this medication with antacids that contain aluminum or magnesium hydroxide may reduce its absorption, so it is advisable to space administration by about 2 hours. Taking this medication with fruit juices such as grapefruit juice, orange juice, or apple juice may reduce its effectiveness, so it is recommended to take it with water. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication under a physician's guidance, considering the risks to the fetus, and nursing mothers should avoid breastfeeding while taking this medication. The safety of this medication has not been established in children under 12 years, newborns, or low-weight newborns, so caution is advised in these populations. Elderly individuals over 65 years may have a decreased kidney function, so dosage adjustment and renal function monitoring are necessary. If skin tests such as allergy tests are to be conducted, this medication should be discontinued 3 to 5 days prior to the testing to ensure accurate results. Overdosage may result in dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, and since there is no specific antidote, appropriate treatment should be administered based on symptoms. Keep out of reach of children and avoid transferring the medication to other containers.
