Improves mucus dissolution and expectoration in acute and chronic respiratory diseases
This medication helps reduce the viscosity of mucus caused by acute and chronic respiratory diseases and facilitates the easy expulsion of phlegm. This results in more comfortable breathing and effectively alleviates coughing and breathing difficulties. It is mainly used for the treatment of conditions such as bronchitis, pneumonia, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). When taken, it improves respiratory symptoms and reduces discomfort in daily life. It effectively addresses excessive mucus and expectoration issues related to respiratory diseases.
Adults: Take 300 mg of erdosteine orally per dose 2~3 times daily. When used for acute respiratory disease, do not use continuously for more than 10 days.
This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, individuals who are allergic to this medication or any of its components should not take it. Additionally, patients with liver cirrhosis or cystathionine synthase deficiency should not be administered this drug as its metabolites may interfere with methionine metabolism. Patients with peptic ulcers should also avoid this medication. Patients with severe renal impairment, particularly those with a creatinine clearance of less than 25 mL/min, and those with severe liver impairment should also refrain from using this drug. In patients with mild or moderate liver impairment, this medication should be administered with caution. In this case, it is important to ensure that the daily dosage does not exceed 300 mg. Overdosage of this medication may cause excessive sweating, dizziness, and facial flushing.
