(Hypertension, Hypercholesterolemia) Effects of blood pressure control and cholesterol improvement, reduction of cardiovascular disease risk
This medication is used in patients with primary hypertension where blood pressure control is inadequate with telmisartan and amlodipine combination therapy. Additionally, rosuvastatin calcium is used as an adjunct therapy when dietary management and exercise are insufficient for controlling hypercholesterolemia and hyperlipidemia. This drug is indicated for primary hypercholesterolemia, heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, mixed dyslipidemia, and homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. Rosuvastatin lowers total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels, delaying the progression of atherosclerosis and assisting in dietary management for patients with type III dysbetalipoproteinemia. Furthermore, in patients at high risk for cardiovascular disease, it helps reduce the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and vascular reconstructive surgery. Thus, this medication improves cardiovascular health by adequately managing blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
This medication is taken once daily, one tablet, with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning) if possible. The dosage of the telmisartan/amlodipine combination should be individualized based on the patient's response and tolerance, and administered at doses of 40/5 mg, 80/5 mg, 40/10 mg, and 80/10 mg according to blood pressure control. Rosuvastatin has an initial dose of 1 day.
This medication should not be used during pregnancy. Extra caution is needed during early pregnancy, and treatment should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients allergic to any component of this drug or those with certain conditions should not take it. For example, those with hereditary angioedema or severe liver or kidney dysfunction should avoid its use. Elderly patients or those with significantly low blood pressure or impaired liver function should use this medication with more caution, requiring regular blood tests and health monitoring. If symptoms like muscle pain or weakness occur, consult a doctor immediately, as this medication can cause muscle-related side effects, and regular muscle examinations are also recommended. This medication can interact with other drugs, so it is crucial to inform healthcare providers about any other medication being taken, especially antihypertensives, diuretics, or anticoagulants. Women of childbearing potential should use appropriate contraceptives, and breastfeeding mothers should avoid taking this medication or stop breastfeeding. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as low blood pressure, dizziness, and severe muscle pain may occur, and immediate medical attention is required. This medication has not been established as safe for children and is not recommended. During treatment, caution should be exercised while driving or operating machinery as dizziness or drowsiness may occur.
