Precautions

This medication should not be taken by individuals who are allergic to this medication or its ingredients. Patients with poor kidney function, elderly individuals, and those with heart conditions or a history of such diseases should exercise caution when taking this medication. This medication contains a dye called Yellow No. 5, and those who are allergic or sensitive to this component should take it carefully. Side effects may include headache, drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, and, rarely, fatigue, insomnia, rash, itching, or difficulty breathing as allergic reactions. If severe allergic reactions or shock symptoms occur, discontinue use immediately and seek medical assistance. Symptoms of liver dysfunction may also occur, so individuals with liver function issues should closely monitor their condition while taking this medication. For those with diminished kidney function, dosage adjustments may be necessary, and elderly patients should be cautious due to the potential for reduced kidney function. Although there have been no reports of effects on driving or operating machinery, individuals sensitive to medications should be cautious after taking this drug. This medication does not undergo metabolism in the liver, resulting in fewer interactions due to liver metabolism; however, caution should be exercised if taken with certain antifungals or antibiotics due to the potential for increased blood concentration. Taking antacids that contain aluminum or magnesium hydroxide can reduce the efficacy of this medication, so it is advisable to take this medication and antacids with a gap of 2 hours between them. Fruit juices such as grapefruit juice, orange juice, and apple juice may reduce the effectiveness of this medication, so it is recommended to take it with water. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully weigh the risks to the fetus against the benefits of treatment. Nursing mothers are advised to avoid taking this medication. Safety for children under 12 years of age and newborns has not been established. This medication should be discontinued before allergy testing so that test results are not affected. No specific toxic reactions have been reported in the case of overdose; however, dizziness, drowsiness, and dry mouth may occur, so caution is warranted.
