This medication is used for the treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease.

How to take

Adult dose

This drug is taken orally once a day and should be administered at the same time every day. If necessary, it can be taken twice a day. Dose increases for the initial dose should occur weekly for 3 weeks, increasing by 5 mg each week. Week 1 (Days 1-7): 5 mg daily Week 2 (Days 8-14): 10 mg daily Week 3 (Days 15-21): 15 mg daily From week 4, 20 mg daily. The maintenance dose is 1 day.

Precautions

This drug should not be used by patients with hypersensitivity to its components or with severe liver or kidney dysfunction. Caution is needed for patients with epilepsy or a history of seizures, and the risk of side effects may increase when used in combination with certain NMDA antagonists. Patients with conditions that may increase urine pH or those who have had recent heart disease should use this medication more carefully. This drug contains a dye called Yellow No. 5, so patients allergic to this component should exercise caution.
