This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, it should not be administered to individuals who are allergic to this drug or to ergot alkaloids, those suffering from acute myocardial infarction, those with acute bleeding, individuals taking sympathomimetic drugs, those with very low heart rates, individuals who have not yet achieved hemostasis following intracranial bleeding, and those with orthostatic hypotension. Additionally, it should be administered with caution to patients with mild bradycardia or renal function issues. While taking this drug, gastrointestinal symptoms such as decreased appetite, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and dry mouth may rarely occur. Liver function abnormalities can lead to elevated liver enzyme levels, and circulatory issues such as dizziness, orthostatic hypotension, blood pressure changes, and elevated serum uric acid may also rarely occur. Central nervous system effects can include rare symptoms such as drowsiness, fatigue, headache, tinnitus, insomnia, and skin reactions like rash, urticaria, itchiness, flushing, and warmth have also been reported. When taken with other antihypertensive medications, the hypotensive effect may be increased, so it is important to monitor blood pressure regularly. Additionally, it can affect uric acid metabolism, so caution is advised in patients with a history of hyperuricemia or gout. After taking this medication, it is important to exercise caution when driving or operating machinery. This drug is metabolized in the liver via a specific enzyme (CYP450 2D6), so interactions may occur when taken with other medications that utilize this enzyme. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been established, and high doses in animal studies may harm the fetus, so it should be administered cautiously after consulting with a doctor for women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. If breastfeeding, it is advisable to either avoid using this medication or discontinue breastfeeding, since it may be excreted in breast milk. Elderly patients may require dosage adjustments due to decreased physical function. The safety in children has not yet been confirmed. In case of overdose, blood pressure may temporarily drop, so blood pressure changes should be monitored and necessary measures should be taken. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children and stored in its original sealed container. Transferring to another container can lead to drug misuse or degradation of quality, so caution is advised.
