Precautions

This medication should not be used by patients who are allergic to this drug or its ingredients. Patients with impaired kidney function, elderly individuals, or those with a history of heart disease should use this medication cautiously. Headaches are the most commonly reported side effect, and dizziness, drowsiness, and nausea have also been reported by some individuals. In rare cases, psychiatric symptoms such as fatigue, insomnia, nervousness, sleep disturbances, and nightmares, as well as skin reactions like rashes, hives, and itching may occur. Severe allergic reactions such as shock may occur; therefore, if symptoms such as difficulty breathing, chest tightness, or low blood pressure occur, discontinuation of the medication and immediate medical attention are required. Liver function abnormalities may develop, so careful monitoring for elevated liver enzymes or jaundice symptoms is necessary; if abnormalities occur, the medication should be stopped. Since this drug is primarily excreted through the kidneys, dose adjustments may be necessary for patients with impaired kidney function or elderly patients. There have been no reports indicating effects on driving or operating machinery, but those sensitive to the medication should confirm their response before engaging in such activities. When taking other medications, care should be taken as some antifungals or antibiotics can elevate the blood concentration of this drug. Taking antacids containing aluminum or magnesium hydroxide may reduce the absorption of this medication, so it is advisable to take antacids 2 hours before this medication. Fruit juices such as grapefruit juice, orange juice, and apple juice can reduce the effectiveness of this drug, so it is recommended to take it with water. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should consult their physician regarding the risks to the fetus before taking this medication, and nursing mothers are advised to avoid breastfeeding while taking this drug. Safety and effectiveness in children or those under 12 years have not been adequately established, so caution is warranted for use in this age group. This medication should be discontinued prior to allergy testing to avoid affecting test results. No specific toxicity has been reported for overdose, but symptoms such as dizziness, drowsiness, and dry mouth may occur, so overdose should be avoided, and if symptoms arise, immediate medical attention should be sought. Keep out of reach of children and do not transfer to other containers, as this helps maintain quality.
