Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. Administration is contraindicated in patients with allergies to this medication or ergot alkaloids, patients with acute myocardial infarction or acute hemorrhage, patients taking sympathomimetic agents, patients with significantly low heart rates, patients with unresolved cerebral hemorrhage, and patients with orthostatic dysregulation. Patients with mild bradycardia or renal dysfunction should use this medication with caution. Rarely, gastrointestinal symptoms like indigestion, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, and vomiting may occur, and liver function test results may increase. Furthermore, neurological symptoms such as dizziness, blood pressure changes, drowsiness, headache, fatigue, and insomnia along with hypersensitivity reactions like skin rashes and itching may also occur. When used with antihypertensive medications, blood pressure may lower excessively, so regular blood pressure monitoring is necessary. It may also affect uric acid levels, hence caution is advised for gout patients or those with hyperuricemia. Drowsiness or dizziness may occur when taking this medication, so caution is advised during driving or operating machinery. This medication is metabolized by specific enzymes in the liver; therefore, interactions may occur when taken with other medications that use the same enzymes. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should carefully weigh risks against benefits when taking this medication, and nursing mothers should avoid this medication or discontinue breastfeeding as it may be secreted in breast milk. Elderly patients should adjust dosages as bodily functions may be diminished. The safety in children has not been established, so avoiding use is preferable. In cases of overdose, blood pressure may temporarily drop, so careful monitoring of blood pressure changes is necessary, and appropriate measures should be taken.
