This medication is used to relieve various symptoms of the common cold, including runny nose, nasal congestion, sneezing, sore throat, cough, phlegm, chills, fever, headache, joint pain, and muscle pain.

How to take

Adult dose

Ages 15 and older: Take 2 capsules 30 minutes after meals, three times a day.

Child dose

Ages 8 to under 15: Take 1 capsule 30 minutes after meals, three times a day.

Precautions

This medication may burden the liver; therefore, individuals who regularly consume more than three drinks a day should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. The acetaminophen component in this medication may rarely cause severe skin reactions; if a rash or allergic symptoms appear, discontinue use immediately and consult a specialist. The maximum daily dosage of acetaminophen should not exceed 4,000 mg, and caution should be taken not to combine this medication with other acetaminophen products. Individuals who have had a hypersensitivity reaction to this medication or have experienced asthma should not take it. Infants under three months should not take it. Those taking MAO inhibitors or who have recently discontinued them should also avoid this medication. During use, it is safe not to take other medications that include cough suppressants, cold medications, antipyretic analgesics, sedatives, or antihistamines. Children suspected of having chickenpox or influenza, those with allergic tendencies, and individuals with chronic diseases such as liver, kidney, or heart conditions or diabetes should consult a specialist before taking this medication. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as nursing mothers, should consult healthcare professionals before taking this medication. If symptoms such as rash, itching, vomiting, dizziness, severe skin symptoms, or difficulty breathing occur while taking this medication, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor or pharmacist. This medication should not be administered to children under two years old, and if necessary, a doctor's examination must be sought. Adhere to the prescribed dosage and frequency during use, avoid long-term use, and supervise administration to children by a guardian. Avoid alcohol during treatment, and be aware that drowsiness may occur, so driving or operating machinery should be avoided. As interactions may occur with specific medications, individuals taking other medications should consult a specialist. Store this medication out of reach of children, away from direct sunlight, in a cool, dry place, sealed tight. Additionally, to maintain quality, do not transfer to other containers.

Serious side effects

  • Hives, severe swelling, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor → severe allergic reaction related to shock (anaphylaxis)
  • Severe rashes with high fever, blisters, peeling skin, pain in the mucous membranes of the mouth/eyes → mucocutaneous syndrome (Stevens-Johnson syndrome), serious skin adverse reactions related to toxic epidermal necrolysis
  • Asthma attacks
  • Liver dysfunction (jaundice): extreme lethargy, yellowing of the skin or eyes

Mild side effects

Rash, erythema (redness), itching, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, constipation, swelling, difficulty urinating, thirst (persistent or severe), dizziness, high anion gap metabolic acidosis (HAGMA)

Storage

Store this medication in a sealed container to prevent exposure to air or moisture, preferably at room temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius. Storing it this way will help maintain the efficacy of the medication for a longer period.
