Precautions
This medication may be absorbed systemically and can cause side effects associated with estrogen systemic therapy. When using this medication, attention must also be paid to the precautions for estrogen oral therapy. Estrogen replacement therapy or hormone replacement therapy can increase the risk of certain cancers or cardiovascular diseases. Women with a uterus should be particularly cautious, as using estrogen alone can increase the risk of endometrial cancer. This medication should not be initiated or continued for the purpose of preventing cardiovascular diseases or dementia, and the benefits and risks should be carefully evaluated during treatment. There can be an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, breast cancer, and thrombosis; therefore, it should be used at minimal doses and for the shortest duration necessary, with regular check-ups required. This medication can increase the risk of thromboembolic diseases such as stroke, deep vein thrombosis, and pulmonary embolism, so patients with risk factors should be monitored closely. The risk of malignant tumors, including endometrial cancer, breast cancer, and ovarian cancer, may increase, so any abnormal bleeding or symptoms should be promptly discussed with a healthcare provider. This medication should not be used during pregnancy, and it is also advised against in breastfeeding women. This medication may increase the risk of dementia; therefore, caution is particularly required in elderly patients. Regular examinations of the breasts, uterus, and blood pressure should be conducted before and during treatment, requiring ongoing monitoring. This medication should be used cautiously in patients with existing conditions such as liver dysfunction, hypertension, diabetes, and depression. In case of overdose, symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and breast tenderness may occur, so caution is necessary. When using this medication, it should be applied intravaginally by the specified method, and the applicator must be kept clean. It may interact with rubber products such as latex condoms or intravaginal contraceptive diaphragms, so caution is necessary when using them together.
