Precautions

This medication is used to control blood glucose levels. While taking this medication, there is a rare but serious side effect known as lactic acidosis, and therefore it should not be administered to patients with impaired kidney function or with problems related to the heart or liver. Additionally, this medication should not be used in pregnant or breastfeeding women, nor in situations such as acute infections or severe trauma that can quickly worsen kidney function. Due to the risk of hypoglycemia, careful monitoring of blood glucose changes is necessary when used in conjunction with insulin or sulfonylureas, and dosage adjustments of other medications may be required as needed. Elderly patients with decreased kidney function or certain conditions should regularly have kidney function tests, and the dosage may need to be adjusted based on their condition. If symptoms of acute pancreatitis or skin blisters such as vesicular pemphigoid appear, the medication should be immediately discontinued, and a doctor should be consulted. Avoid alcohol consumption during treatment, and consult with healthcare professionals as there may be interactions when taking other medications together. Safety and efficacy in children under 10 years have not been established, and its use is not recommended in this age group. The use of this medication should be temporarily halted before and after tests that can affect kidney function, such as surgery or radiological examinations. This medication may cause side effects such as gastrointestinal disturbances, fatigue, headaches, and dizziness, and if symptoms are severe or persistent, the doctor should be informed. Finally, this medication should be stored out of reach of children, kept away from moisture, and not transferred to another container.
