Improvement of blood glucose control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used alongside diet and exercise to help control blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes who use Linagliptin and Metformin together. It can effectively manage blood glucose levels and contribute to the prevention of complications. Therefore, consistent use along with lifestyle modifications can help improve blood glucose control.
This medication should be taken once daily with meals, preferably with the evening meal. The increase in the dose of Metformin Hydrochloride should be gradual. To maintain its extended-release properties, do not split, crush, grind, or chew the tablet. The 5/1000 mg extended-release tablet should be taken once daily, 1 tablet at a time. The 2.5/1000 mg extended-release tablet should be taken once daily, 2 tablets simultaneously. 1. For patients currently not treated with Metformin.
This medication can cause a rare side effect known as severe lactic acidosis, thus it is important to be well-informed about the symptoms. Lactic acidosis is a very serious condition that requires immediate treatment and can be fatal. Do not use this medication if you have allergies to any of its ingredients or if you have specific health conditions such as type 1 diabetes, severe renal impairment, liver dysfunction, acute infections, or dehydration. Such conditions can render the drug harmful to your body. There is a risk of hypoglycemia, so special attention must be given to monitor blood glucose levels, especially when used in conjunction with insulin or other antihyperglycemic agents. Exercise and dietary control are also important. Patients with weak kidney function should have regular kidney function tests before using this medication, and should not take it if their kidney function is severely impaired. Patients with heart disease or those who have recently experienced a myocardial infarction should use this medication cautiously and consult a doctor. Acute pancreatitis or skin blistering disorders may occur during the use of this medication, so notify healthcare professionals immediately if abdominal pain or skin abnormalities appear. Vitamin B12 deficiency may occur; therefore, if taken for a long time, it is advisable to check vitamin B12 levels through blood tests. This medication should be swallowed whole and not chewed or broken. The tablet coating may be excreted in the feces, but this is normal. This medication may interact with other drugs; particularly if used with drugs affecting kidney function, antihyperglycemic agents, diuretics, or anti-inflammatory pain relievers, it is essential to consult a doctor or pharmacist. It is advisable to avoid using this medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If planning to become pregnant, consult with a healthcare professional. The elderly commonly experience reduced kidney function, so kidney function should be monitored regularly when taking this medication and appropriate dose adjustments may be necessary. If surgery is planned or if you are receiving contrast media containing radioactive iodine, the medication should be temporarily discontinued and resumed only after stable kidney function is established post-surgery. In case of overdose, severe side effects such as lactic acidosis may occur, thus immediate medical attention is necessary. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, kept dry, and not transferred to another container.
