Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, it is contraindicated in patients allergic to this medication or to ergot alkaloids, patients with acute myocardial infarction or acute bleeding, patients taking sympathomimetic agents, patients with very low heart rates, patients with unresolved intracranial bleeding, and patients with orthostatic disorders. Furthermore, it should be used with caution in patients with mild bradycardia or impaired renal function. This medication may rarely cause gastrointestinal symptoms such as dyspepsia, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and dry mouth. Liver function tests may show elevated levels. Cardiovascular symptoms such as blood pressure changes, dizziness, orthostatic hypotension, hypertension, and elevated blood uric acid levels, as well as neurological symptoms like drowsiness, headache, fatigue, and insomnia may also rarely occur. Allergic reactions such as rash, urticaria, itching, facial flushing, and heat sensation may occur, so caution is required. If taken with other medications that lower blood pressure, there may be an enhanced hypotensive effect, necessitating frequent blood pressure monitoring. Moreover, it can affect uric acid metabolism, so patients with a history of gout or hyperuricemia should be careful. Caution is required when driving or operating machinery after taking this medication. This drug is metabolized by a specific enzyme in the liver (CYP450 2D6), hence there may be interactions with other drugs related to this enzyme. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication if the benefits outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been established. During breastfeeding, it may be excreted in breast milk, so use should be avoided if possible or breastfeeding should be discontinued. Elderly patients may have reduced physiological functions, so dosages should be adjusted and used with caution. Safety in pediatrics is not established. In case of overdose, blood pressure may temporarily drop, so blood pressure changes should be closely monitored and necessary actions taken. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and stored tightly in its original container. Transferring to another container may cause misuse or degradation of quality.
