Treatment of hypertension and angina (myocardial ischemia), improvement of hypercholesterolemia (dyslipidemia)
This medication is used for patients who require the combined administration of amlodipine and ezetimibe/atorvastatin. Amlodipine improves symptoms of myocardial ischemia due to coronary artery diseases such as hypertension and stable and variant angina, and helps reduce the risk of hospitalization and revascularization procedures related to coronary artery disease. The ezetimibe/atorvastatin combination lowers bad cholesterol levels and raises good cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, contributing to the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. It is also used as an adjunctive or alternative treatment in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, effectively reducing cholesterol levels. This medication helps manage blood pressure and cholesterol, thereby improving cardiovascular health.
The recommended dosage of this medication is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). This medication is to be administered to adults only, and the dosing should be individualized for each patient based on the effectiveness and tolerability of amlodipine and the ezetimibe/atorvastatin combination. The tablet should not be chewed, split, or crushed but taken whole.
This medication may cause serious muscle issues, so if sudden severe muscle pain or weakness occurs, you should inform your doctor immediately. It should not be administered to patients with poor liver function or a history of liver disease, and it is safest not to use this drug if liver function test results are abnormal. Women who are pregnant or capable of becoming pregnant, and nursing mothers should not take this medication. This drug should also not be used in patients with certain genetic metabolic disorders, and patients who have had allergic reactions should be careful. Elderly patients, those with impaired kidney function, and patients with a history of muscle diseases require special caution when taking this medication. During treatment, liver function and muscle condition should be regularly monitored for signs of abnormalities. If taken with other medications, interactions may occur, so any currently taken medications must be disclosed to the doctor or pharmacist. In cases of excessive drinking, acute infections, or unstable health conditions after major surgery, the use of this medication may need to be temporarily suspended or discussed with a doctor. As this medication lowers blood pressure, patients with hypotension should carefully monitor blood pressure changes during use. Dizziness may occur while driving or operating machinery, so caution is required. During treatment with this medication, symptoms such as muscle pain, fatigue, digestive disorders, headaches, and swelling may occur, and if these symptoms are severe or persistent, medical consultation is necessary.
