Effect on blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes and prevention of cardiovascular events
This medication is used to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes in conjunction with diet and exercise. It particularly helps with blood sugar management in patients with cardiovascular disease and it is important to administer it safely by referring to clinical trial information from professionals. Therefore, this medication is used as a treatment to assist with blood sugar control and prevention of cardiovascular events.
The recommended dosage of this medication is 1 tablet once, twice a day. The maximum recommended daily doses for each ingredient should not exceed 25 mg of Empagliflozin and 2000 mg of Metformin, and it should be determined considering the patient’s current therapy, efficacy, and tolerance. In cases where adequate blood sugar control cannot be achieved with Metformin alone or other medications like insulin, the recommended dosage for patients taking this drug is Empagliflozin.
This medication assists in controlling blood sugar levels and is used in diabetes treatment. There is a risk of a rare but serious side effect called lactic acidosis, which may occur during the use of this medicine. Lactic acidosis happens when there is an excessive buildup of lactic acid in the body, with symptoms such as muscle pain, trouble breathing, abdominal pain, and fatigue. This medication should not be administered to patients with impaired kidney function, and it is important to regularly check for any decline in kidney function. The use of this medication should be temporarily suspended during conditions such as acute infection, dehydration, cardiac issues, or around the time of surgery; it can be resumed once the condition stabilizes. When taken together with other diabetes medications such as insulin or sulfonylureas, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase, so blood sugar levels need to be monitored closely and medication doses adjusted as necessary. This medication may increase the risk of urinary tract infections or genital infections; thus, immediate consultation with a doctor is necessary if infection symptoms appear. Moreover, in cases of fluid depletion, low blood pressure or dehydration may occur, so if there are symptoms of dehydration, diarrhea, or vomiting, it is advised to stop taking this medication and consult healthcare personnel. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not use this medication, and it is not recommended for children under the age of 18. Severe side effects may occur from overdose, so doses should be strictly adhered to, and if unusual symptoms develop, a hospital visit is necessary. Regular blood tests to check kidney function and vitamin B12 levels are important during the use of this medication. Alcohol can increase the risk of side effects, so it is recommended to avoid drinking during treatment. Finally, this medication should be kept out of reach of children and stored in its original container to maintain its quality.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
