Adult dose

The recommended dose of this medication is 1 tablet per dose, twice a day. The dosage is determined based on each patient's current treatment regimen, efficacy, and tolerance while not exceeding the maximum recommended daily doses for each active ingredient, which are 25 mg of empagliflozin and 2000 mg of metformin. Precautions

This medication can cause a rare but severe condition known as lactic acidosis, and immediate medical attention is required if symptoms occur. Additionally, caution should be exercised as hypoglycemia may occur when used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas. Patients with allergies to any ingredients in this medication or those with severely impaired kidney function, acute infections, or dehydration should not take this medication. Patients should temporarily stop taking this medication before and after tests using radiographic contrast agents and should resume after confirming normal kidney function. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised not to use this medication. Patients with compromised kidney function, elderly patients, or those at risk of fluid loss should have their kidney function and fluid status monitored regularly before and during treatment with this medication. This medication may cause side effects such as gastrointestinal disturbances, urinary tract infections, genital infections, increased urination, hypoglycemia, etc., so patients should consult their healthcare provider if any unusual symptoms arise. Alcohol consumption may increase the risk of lactic acidosis, hence drinking should be avoided during treatment. Especially, patients with cardiovascular issues such as heart failure, acute myocardial infarction, or shock should be cautious when using this medication. Regular blood tests to monitor liver function, kidney function, and vitamin B12 levels are recommended during treatment. If surgery is planned, this medication should be stopped 48 hours prior to the surgery and resumed after confirming normal kidney function post-surgery. This medication is not recommended for children under the age of 18, and special attention is required for elderly patients aged 75 and over due to the increased risk of fluid loss. In case of overdose, serious side effects such as lactic acidosis may occur, hence prescribed dosages should always be adhered to, and immediate emergency treatment should be sought if unusual symptoms arise.
