Regulation of blood sugar in type 2 diabetes and prevention of cardiovascular events
This medication is used in conjunction with dietary and exercise therapies to help control blood sugar in adult patients with type 2 diabetes. It contains both empagliflozin and metformin, enhancing the blood sugar control effect, especially suitable for cases where blood sugar is not adequately controlled. Moreover, attention is needed for patients with cardiovascular diseases, hence clinical trial information for related professionals should be referred to. This medication is effective in improving blood sugar control.
The recommended dosage of this medication is 1 tablet at a time, twice a day. This is determined within the limits of the maximum recommended daily doses for each ingredient, which are empagliflozin 25 mg and metformin 2000 mg. For patients on metformin alone or other medications like insulin, the recommended dosage is empagliflozin 5 mg twice daily (total 10 mg) along with the usual dose of metformin. For those with good tolerance and where additional blood sugar control is needed, dosage can be increased to empagliflozin 25 mg (total daily).
