Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used to assist in controlling blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes, in conjunction with dietary and exercise therapy. The combination of vildagliptin and metformin allows for effective management of blood sugar.
The initial dose of this medication is 50/500 mg taken once daily with the option to gradually increase to 50/1000 mg to be taken twice daily, 1 tablet at a time. A dose of vildagliptin greater than 100 mg per day is not recommended. This medication is generally administered with food or immediately after meals to reduce gastrointestinal adverse reactions caused by metformin. Vildagliptin and metformin
This medication can cause severe lactic acidosis or hypoglycemia, so caution is necessary. It should not be used in patients with moderate to severe renal impairment or heart failure, and should be avoided in patients with renal impairment due to acute heart disease or sepsis. Before undergoing tests using iodine-based radiographic contrast agents, this medication should be discontinued at least 48 hours prior and resumed only after confirming normal kidney function. It is not to be used in patients with hypersensitivity to this drug, or in those with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Caution is also advised for patients with severe infections, severe trauma, malnutrition, liver dysfunction, and severe pulmonary dysfunction. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take this medication. Caution is required as irregular meals, excessive exercise, and interactions with other medications may increase the risk of hypoglycemia or lactic acidosis. During treatment, liver and kidney functions should be regularly monitored for abnormalities, and if liver function is severely impaired, the medication should be discontinued. If symptoms of lactic acidosis, such as respiratory distress, abdominal pain, muscle cramps, weakness, or hypothermia, occur, consult a doctor immediately. Alcohol consumption should be avoided while taking this medication, as it may increase the risk of lactic acidosis. If symptoms of hypoglycemia appear, take sugar immediately and consult a doctor if necessary. If surgery is planned, discontinue this medication 48 hours before the surgery and resume only after confirming normal kidney function post-surgery. Elderly patients are at higher risk of renal function decline, so dosage adjustments and regular kidney function monitoring are required. Patients taking this medication should notify their doctor of any sudden weight changes, dyspepsia, skin rash, or joint pain. This medication does not replace insulin therapy and should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes. Certain occupations may involve a risk of accidents due to hypoglycemia or dizziness, requiring caution during use.

This medication is sensitive to air and moisture, so it should be kept tightly sealed in its bottle. Additionally, it should be stored in a cool place below 30 degrees Celsius to maintain its effectiveness.
