This medication is used to relieve various symptoms of colds such as sore throat, cough, phlegm, chills, fever, headache, joint pain, and muscle pain.

How to take

Adult dose

Ages 15 and older: Take 2 capsules three times a day, 30 minutes after meals

Precautions

This medication may pose a risk of liver damage to those who regularly consume more than three alcoholic beverages daily, so it is essential to consult a doctor or pharmacist. The acetaminophen contained in this medication can, in rare cases, cause serious skin reactions; if any skin rash or allergic symptoms occur, stop taking it immediately. Caution must be taken not to exceed the maximum daily dose of 4,000 mg, and it should not be taken in conjunction with other products containing acetaminophen. Patients with hypersensitivity to this drug or a history of asthma, infants under 3 months old, and those taking or recently stopped taking MAO inhibitors should not take this medication. While taking this medication, care must be taken to avoid concurrent use of cough medicines, other cold medicines, antipyretic analgesics, sedatives, and antihistamines. Children suspected of having or suffering from chickenpox or influenza, individuals with an allergic constitution, and those with liver, kidney, or heart diseases, as well as pregnant or breastfeeding women, must consult a healthcare professional before taking it. If any abnormal symptoms like rash, vomiting, dizziness, or difficulty breathing occur after ingestion, stop taking it immediately and consult a healthcare provider. Children under 2 years of age should not use this medication except as directed by a physician when absolutely necessary. Always adhere to the prescribed dosage and administration, avoid prolonged use, and refrain from drinking alcohol while taking this medication. Also, be cautious as certain drug combinations may pose risks; if you are taking other medications, be sure to inform your healthcare provider, and store this medication in a cool, dry place out of reach of children.

Serious side effects

  • Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, cold sweats, pallor → severe allergic reaction
  • Severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in mucous membranes of the mouth/eyes → severe skin adverse reaction
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attack, respiratory problems accompanied by cough + fever → respiratory issues
  • Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice), extreme lethargy → liver abnormalities (jaundice)

Mild side effects

Rash, erythema (redness), itching, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, constipation, edema (swelling), dizziness, anxiety, tremor, insomnia, high anion gap metabolic acidosis (HAGMA)

Drug interactions

Do not take this medication in conjunction with MAO inhibitors (such as antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, and antiparkinsonian agents), cough expectorants, other cold medicines, antipyretic analgesics, sedatives, and antihistamines (oral drugs for rhinitis, motion sickness, and allergy). Also relevant is the use of other medications such as barbiturates, tricyclic antidepressants, alcohol, diabetes medications, gout medications, arthritis medications, anticoagulants, and steroids.

Do not consume alcohol while taking this medication.

Storage

This medication may be sensitive to air or moisture, so it should be stored in a sealed container. It is advisable to keep the storage temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature. This way, the effectiveness of the medication can be maintained for a longer period.
