Precautions

This medication is a diabetes treatment that contains both sitagliptin and metformin. First, allergic reactions may occur during the course of taking this medication, so if symptoms such as skin rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck occur, you should immediately stop taking the medication and inform your physician. Additionally, this medication may cause pancreatitis, a condition involving inflammation of the pancreas, so if sudden abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, or fever occur, you should visit the hospital immediately. Due to the metformin component, rare complications such as severe lactic acidosis may occur, so if you experience symptoms such as shortness of breath, muscle pain, fatigue, abdominal pain, or altered consciousness, you should immediately stop taking this medication and consult with a healthcare professional. This medication should not be used in patients with severely impaired kidney function or with acute conditions that can affect kidney function such as severe infections, heart failure, acute myocardial infarction, or sepsis. In cases where iodine contrast agents are administered for radiological examinations, this medication should be discontinued for a certain period before and after the examination, and it should be resumed only after confirming normal kidney function. It is advisable for pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, as well as breastfeeding women, to avoid taking this medication. During treatment with this medication, it is important to be cautious since symptoms of hypoglycemia may occur when used with other medications that have strong blood sugar-lowering effects or with insulin. Moreover, patients with irregular eating habits, insufficient food intake, or those engaging in vigorous exercise, and those allergic to certain pigment components should also be careful when using this medication. During treatment, side effects such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, headache, or upper respiratory tract infections may occur, so it is advisable to consult a physician if symptoms are severe or persistent. This medication should be taken while regularly monitoring kidney and liver function, and special caution should be taken particularly for the elderly or patients with impaired kidney function. Finally, alcohol consumption may increase the risk of side effects associated with this medication, so it is important to avoid excessive drinking during treatment.
