Improvement in blood glucose control in type 2 diabetes
This medicine is used to help control blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. It is primarily administered to patients who follow meal and exercise regimens, and works effectively to improve blood glucose levels through the combined action of sitagliptin and metformin. This helps enhance blood glucose control and can assist in diabetes management.
This medication is generally taken twice daily with food, and the dosage is gradually increased to reduce gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin. 1. Patients with no previous experience of metformin treatment: Starting dose is to take one tablet of 50/500 mg twice daily, with the possibility of increasing to 50/1000 mg. 2. Patients already receiving metformin treatment: Total sitagliptin dose is 50 mg twice daily.
This medicine is an antidiabetic treatment that contains two components to assist in controlling blood glucose. Firstly, this medicine can cause hypersensitivity, so if allergy symptoms or skin conditions develop within 3 months of administration, it should be discontinued immediately and a doctor consulted. Additionally, acute pancreatitis, a serious inflammation of the pancreas, may occur; therefore, if symptoms such as abdominal pain or nausea arise, healthcare professionals should be informed immediately. Another component of this medicine can cause lactic acidosis, a rare yet potentially fatal metabolic condition, so patients with severe renal impairment or liver dysfunction should not take it. This medicine should not be used in patients with impaired kidney function, dehydration, serious infections, heart failure, or acute myocardial infarction, and it should also be discontinued before and after undergoing tests involving iodine contrast media. It is not administered to pregnant or nursing women, or children under 18. While taking this medication, symptoms of hypoglycemia may occur if blood sugar levels drop too low, especially when used in conjunction with other antidiabetics. This medication may occasionally cause side effects such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, headache, upper respiratory infections, and rarely severe joint pain or skin disorders. Alcohol consumption can increase the risk of lactic acidosis, so drinking should be avoided while on this medication. In cases of surgery, it must also be stopped for a certain period, and renal function and blood tests should be regularly checked to monitor health status. Moreover, this medication contains specific color additives, so caution is needed for those allergic to said additives. During the use of this medicine, it is important to maintain regular meals and exercise, and to consistently undergo tests related to blood sugar levels. If any unusual symptoms or discomfort occurs after taking this medication, a doctor should be consulted immediately, and the prescribed dosage and administration rules should be strictly followed.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to prevent air exposure, and it is best kept at room temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius. This storage helps maintain the effectiveness of the medication.
