Precautions

This medication contains sitagliptin and metformin, which are used in diabetes treatment. Serious allergic reactions may occur during the use of this medication; therefore, if symptoms such as rash, hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck occur, you should immediately stop taking it and consult a physician. Serious side effects such as pancreatitis have been reported, so if abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, or loss of appetite occurs after taking the medication, you should immediately inform your healthcare provider. Patients with impaired kidney function, dehydration, severe infections, or heart problems should not use this medication, and particularly if kidney function is impaired, it should be avoided or used with caution. Patients who are scheduled to receive iodinated contrast media for radiological exams should stop taking this medication before and after the exam, and may only resume after confirming normal kidney function. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, and breastfeeding women should not take this medication. Irregular meals, vigorous exercise, or the use of certain medications may increase the risk of hypoglycemia or lactic acidosis; therefore, caution is advised. While taking this medication, symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, and upper respiratory tract infections may occur, and if these symptoms are severe or persistent, you should consult a physician. This medication carries a risk of hypoglycemia, so particularly when taken with other hypoglycemic agents like insulin or sulfonylureas, blood glucose levels should be checked frequently, and symptoms of hypoglycemia should be monitored. A rare side effect called lactic acidosis can be very dangerous, so if symptoms such as muscle pain, weakness, difficulty breathing, abdominal pain, or changes in consciousness occur, inform your healthcare provider immediately and stop taking the medication. It is important to regularly check kidney function and conduct blood tests for abnormalities. Alcohol consumption may increase the risk of lactic acidosis, so it should be avoided while taking this medication. If surgery is planned or has occurred, this medication should be stopped for a certain period and can be resumed once the patient's condition stabilizes. This medication contains specific coloring agents, so caution is needed if there is an allergy to these ingredients. Elderly patients may have a risk of decreased kidney function, so dosage adjustment and regular check-ups are needed. In the case of overdose, immediately visit a medical institution for appropriate treatment, which may include the need for dialysis.
