This medication is used to help control blood sugar in adults with Type 2 Diabetes in conjunction with dietary and exercise therapies. It is specifically designed to improve blood sugar effectively through the combined administration of dapagliflozin and metformin. Furthermore, caution is needed regarding the occurrence of cardiovascular events in patients with cardiovascular diseases or risk factors among those whose blood sugar is not easily controllable. It is advisable to refer to professional information regarding this matter. Thus, this medication aids in the management of blood sugar control and cardiovascular health in Type 2 Diabetes patients.
This medication is generally administered once daily with the evening meal. The maximum dosage is once daily dapagliflozin 10 mg/sustained release metformin 2000 mg, taken as 2 tablets of 5 mg/1000 mg. When used as initial therapy, the recommended starting dosage is 1 tablet of 5 mg/500 mg or 10 mg/500 mg once daily. The dosage should be adjusted gradually to minimize gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin.
This medication is used for the treatment of diabetes and helps to control blood sugar. Caution should be exercised when taking this medication if kidney function is impaired or if there is dehydration. It should not be administered to patients with moderate to severe renal impairment, and should be avoided in the case of severe infections or heart diseases. This medication may cause hypoglycemia when taken in conjunction with other diabetes medications, so blood sugar levels should be closely monitored and dosages adjusted as necessary, especially in cases where insulin or sulfonylureas are co-administered. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take this medication, and patients with lactose intolerance should also avoid it. During the use of this medication, symptoms of dehydration or hypotension may appear, so regular monitoring of fluid status and blood pressure is important. Additionally, this medication may increase the risk of genital and urinary tract infections, so immediate consultation with healthcare providers is advised if infection symptoms manifest. This medication may lower vitamin B12 levels, so long-term users may consider monitoring their vitamin B12 levels. Excessive alcohol consumption may increase the risk of side effects associated with this medication, so avoiding alcohol during treatment is advisable. This medication should be discontinued for a certain period before and after surgery or any imaging procedures using radiocontrast agents, and should be resumed only after confirming normal kidney function. When administering this medication to elderly patients, careful adjustment of dosage is necessary due to the potential for decreased kidney function, and regular kidney function tests are required. In the case of an overdose, prompt medical attention should be sought to receive appropriate treatment, especially for the risk of lactic acidosis associated with metformin.
