For patients whose blood sugar is not adequately controlled and have cardiovascular disease or risk factors, it is necessary to consult a professional regarding the impact of dapagliflozin on the occurrence of cardiovascular events. Therefore, this medication is used to improve blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes.

How to take

Adult dose

The dosage of this medication should be individualized based on the patient's current treatment regimen, efficacy, and tolerability, without exceeding the maximum recommended dose of 10mg of dapagliflozin and 2000mg of sustained-release metformin. Typically, it is administered once daily with the evening meal. The maximum dose is 10mg of dapagliflozin/2000mg of sustained-release metformin, taken as 2 tablets of 5mg/1000mg. Precautions

This medication is used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It should not be administered to patients with impaired kidney function or acute illnesses. In particular, using this medication in patients with moderate to severe kidney dysfunction may pose risks. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take this medication. This medication can cause a rare but serious side effect known as lactic acidosis, so if symptoms of lactic acidosis appear, immediate medical attention should be sought. Additionally, caution is needed when taken with insulin or sulfonylureas due to the risk of hypoglycemia. Elderly patients have a higher likelihood of reduced kidney function, so dosage may need to be adjusted and kidney function should be checked frequently. This medication is not used in children as its safety and efficacy have not been established. Possible side effects include dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, and back pain, and if symptoms are severe, consultation with a physician is necessary. There may be dizziness when driving or operating machinery while taking this medication, so caution is advised.
