Precautions

This medication contains sitagliptin and metformin and is used for the treatment of diabetes. First, when taking this medication, serious allergic reactions may occur, so if symptoms such as skin rash or difficulty breathing arise, you should immediately stop taking the medication and consult a doctor. Second, there is a risk of acute pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas, so you should inform the healthcare professional immediately if you experience abdominal pain, vomiting, or severe abdominal discomfort. Third, due to the metformin component, there is a risk of lactic acidosis, a rare but life-threatening metabolic disorder, so if symptoms such as sudden fatigue, muscle pain, difficulty breathing, or abdominal pain occur, visit the hospital immediately. Fourth, patients with poor kidney function, severe infections or dehydration, or heart failure should not take this medication, especially as they should have regular kidney function tests. Fifth, this medication is not recommended for use in pregnant or nursing women, or in children under 18 years of age. Sixth, it is important to avoid alcohol consumption while taking this medication, as excessive drinking can increase the risk of lactic acidosis. Seventh, if this medication is used with other hypoglycemic agents such as insulin or sulfonylureas, the risk of hypoglycemia increases, so blood glucose levels should be monitored closely. Eighth, before and after surgery, this medication should be temporarily discontinued, and it can be resumed once food intake has normalized and kidney function is confirmed to be normal. Ninth, during the course of taking this medication, regular blood tests and kidney function tests are necessary to check for any abnormalities. Finally, this medication may cause side effects such as diarrhea, nausea, headache, and upper respiratory infections in some patients, so if symptoms are severe, consult your healthcare professional.
