Precautions

This medication consists of two components: the first component is a drug that helps control blood sugar, while the second component is a drug that lowers blood sugar. When taking this medication, allergic reactions may occur, so if you experience symptoms such as rash, itching, or difficulty breathing, you should immediately stop taking it and consult a physician. Additionally, this medication may cause serious side effects such as pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas, so if you experience abdominal pain, vomiting, or severe abdominal discomfort while taking it, you should visit the hospital immediately. Patients with severely decreased kidney function, acute kidney problems, severe infections, heart failure, acute myocardial infarction, and other specific conditions should not take this medication. You should stop taking this medication before undergoing tests using iodine contrast agents, and should not resume taking it until you have confirmed that kidney function has returned to normal after the test. It is safest for pregnant women, women with a possibility of pregnancy, and nursing mothers to avoid taking this medication. During treatment with this medication, there is a risk of hypoglycemia, so special caution should be taken when skipping meals or engaging in vigorous exercise, and if hypoglycemic symptoms appear, immediate appropriate action should be taken. Side effects such as gastrointestinal disturbances, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and headache may occur, so if symptoms are severe, consult a physician. Regular liver and kidney function tests should be conducted, especially since elderly patients may experience decreased kidney function and require periodic monitoring. In case of overdose, you should immediately visit a medical facility for appropriate treatment, and this medication can be partially removed by blood dialysis. It is recommended to avoid alcohol consumption while taking this medication, as acute or chronic excessive alcohol intake may increase the risk of serious side effects. If surgery is planned, this medication should be discontinued 48 hours before the surgery and resumed only after confirming that kidney function is normal post-surgery. This medication has not been sufficiently proven to be safe and effective in children and adolescents under 18 years old, so its use is not recommended.
