Adult dose

This medication is commonly taken twice a day with food, and the dose is gradually increased to reduce gastrointestinal side effects due to metformin. The initial dose is determined based on the patient's current treatment regimen. 1. Precautions

This medication contains two components, sitagliptin and metformin, and is used for the treatment of diabetes. While taking this medication, hypersensitivity reactions may occur; therefore, if symptoms such as skin rash or difficulty breathing arise, it is essential to stop taking the medication immediately and consult a doctor. Severe side effects, such as pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas, may occur; thus, if abdominal pain, vomiting, or persistent nausea develops during treatment, it is crucial to visit a hospital immediately. Although rare, the metformin component can cause serious metabolic abnormalities known as lactic acidosis, so if symptoms such as shortness of breath, muscle pain, severe fatigue, or abdominal pain occur, immediate medical attention is necessary. Patients with severely reduced kidney function, severe infections, or dehydration should not take this medication, and it should be temporarily discontinued before and after tests that utilize iodinated contrast agents. This medication is not administered to pregnant or breastfeeding women, and its safety and effectiveness in children under 18 years of age have not been established. Regular kidney function and blood tests should be conducted during treatment, and periodically checking vitamin B12 levels is recommended. There is a risk of hypoglycemia, so caution is needed for symptoms of low blood sugar when used with other blood glucose-lowering medications, and dose adjustments may be required when necessary. Additionally, excessive alcohol consumption, vigorous exercise, and irregular meals should be avoided. Medication should be temporarily suspended in the case of surgery or severe trauma. This medication may cause gastrointestinal disturbances, headaches, or upper respiratory infections, so if any abnormal symptoms persist, consult with a doctor. There may be drug interactions; thus, it is essential to inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other medications you are taking. It is important to continue safe treatment by regularly monitoring blood sugar levels and health status during the use of this medication.
