Dapaone M Extended Release Tablets 5/1000 mg

Adult dose

This medication is generally administered once daily with the evening meal. The maximum dosage is once daily dapagliflozin 10 mg/metformin extended release 2000 mg, taken as 2 tablets of 5 mg/1000 mg. The recommended starting dose when used as initial therapy is once daily 1 tablet of 5 mg/500 mg or 10 mg/500 mg. To minimize gastrointestinal side effects of metformin, dosage should be titrated gradually.

This medication is used in the treatment of diabetes and contains metformin and dapagliflozin. It can very rarely cause a serious metabolic complication known as lactic acidosis, for which deaths have been reported. Caution is also required as there is a risk of hypoglycemia when used with other diabetes medications. Patients with moderate to severe renal impairment, dehydration, severe infection, or cardiovascular disease should not use this medication. Pregnant or nursing women should not take this medicine, and it is contraindicated for patients with lactose intolerance. Patients with decreased fluid volume or impaired renal function must evaluate their renal status and fluid condition before taking this medication and should periodically monitor for symptoms of hypotension or renal function. This medication may increase the risk of genital and urinary tract infections, and treatment should be sought promptly if infection symptoms arise. Vitamin B12 levels may decrease, so checking serum vitamin B12 levels is advisable during long-term use. Excessive alcohol consumption may increase the risk of side effects with this medication, so alcohol should be avoided while on treatment. During the course of treatment, if there are signs of poor blood sugar control or unusual symptoms, medical consultation should be sought immediately, and discontinuation may be necessary prior to surgery or imaging studies. Elderly patients often have decreased renal function, so renal function monitoring and possible dose adjustments may be needed while using this medication. In case of overdose, appropriate symptomatic treatment is necessary, and metformin is removable by dialysis. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children and kept in its original container to maintain quality. Caution is needed for dizziness while driving or operating machinery.

Mild side effects

Vulvovaginitis, balanitis and related genital infections, urinary tract infections, hypoglycemia (when used with sulfonylureas or insulin), decreased fluid volume (including dehydration, hypovolemia, hypotension), dizziness, constipation, dry mouth, back pain, dysuria, polyuria, nocturia, vulvar itching, genital itching, increased hematocrit, decreased renal creatinine clearance at the start of treatment, dyslipidemia, increased serum creatinine at the start of treatment,

This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to prevent exposure to air or moisture. It is best stored at room temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius.
