Blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes and prevention of cardiovascular events
This medication is used in combination with dapagliflozin and metformin to complement dietary and exercise therapy primarily for controlling blood sugar in adult patients with type 2 diabetes. It is particularly administered to patients whose blood sugar is not adequately controlled and who have cardiovascular disease or risk factors. For safety regarding cardiovascular events, please refer to professional information. This medication helps with effective blood sugar control and contributes to the overall health management of patients, used for blood sugar improvement.
The dosage of this medication should be individualized based on the patient's current therapy, efficacy, and tolerability, without exceeding the maximum recommended dosage of 10 mg dapagliflozin and 2000 mg extended-release metformin. Generally, it is administered once daily with the evening meal. The maximum dosage is 10 mg dapagliflozin/2000 mg extended-release metformin once daily, administered as 2 tablets of 5 mg/1000 mg. Initial diabetes treatment.
This medication is used for the treatment of diabetes and should not be used in patients with poor kidney function or acute illness. While taking this medication, severe hypoglycemia or lactic acidosis can occur rarely, so if symptoms appear, immediate consultation with a doctor is necessary. It is especially safe not to administer this medication to patients with impaired kidney function, those in a dehydrated state, patients with cardiovascular issues, patients with liver dysfunction, and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. The risk of hypoglycemia may increase when this medication is taken in conjunction with insulin or sulfonylureas, so dosage adjustments may be required. During treatment, symptoms of decreased fluid volume or hypotension may occur, making it important to regularly monitor blood pressure and kidney function. Additionally, genital infections or urinary tract infections may arise, so prompt treatment is needed when infection symptoms occur. This medication may decrease vitamin B12 levels, so monitoring vitamin B12 concentrations during long-term use is advisable. Excessive alcohol intake may increase the risk of side effects from this medication, so alcohol should be avoided during use. If undergoing surgery or contrast examinations, this medication should be temporarily discontinued for a certain period, and resumption should occur only after confirming normal kidney function. Elderly patients or those with decreased kidney function must have dosage adjustments and close monitoring of kidney function. While taking this medication, dizziness or hypoglycemia symptoms may occur, so caution is advised when driving or operating machinery. Keep out of reach of children and store in the original container to maintain the drug's quality and safety.
