Precautions

This medication is primarily used for the treatment of psychiatric disorders and may lead to suicidal thoughts or behaviors during use, so pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients should require careful judgment and continuous monitoring by a physician. This medication can rarely cause serious side effects such as neuroleptic malignant syndrome, so if symptoms like high fever, muscle rigidity, or changes in mental state appear, immediate medical attention must be sought. Long-term use may result in tardive dyskinesia, which is an involuntary abnormal movement disorder, and if symptoms occur, consult a doctor. Elderly patients with dementia may face an increased risk of cerebrovascular accidents such as strokes, so caution is warranted when using this medication. Blood sugar may increase, so diabetic patients should regularly monitor their blood sugar control, and if symptoms of hyperglycemia appear, immediate consultation with medical staff is necessary. Orthostatic hypotension may occur, so be cautious of dizziness or fainting when rising suddenly, and patients with cardiovascular diseases should exercise additional caution. Patients with a history of seizures or those at risk of seizures must consult a physician before using this medication. This medication may impair judgment and motor skills, so patients should refrain from driving or operating hazardous machinery during treatment. The ability to regulate body temperature may be decreased, so avoid excessive exertion or exposure to high-temperature environments, and take care to prevent dehydration. Patients who have difficulty swallowing or are at high risk for aspiration must exercise special caution when using this medication. Patients with hypersensitivity reactions should not take this medication, and those with lactose intolerance should avoid it due to the lactose present in the formulation. During treatment, family members or caretakers should carefully observe any changes in the patient’s behavior, and if abnormal symptoms appear, they must report them to medical staff immediately.
