Precautions

This medication contains sitagliptin and metformin and is used in diabetes treatment. Caution should be exercised for allergic reactions when taking this medication. Severe allergic reactions or skin conditions may occur due to the sitagliptin component; therefore, if such symptoms are suspected, stop taking the medication immediately and consult a doctor. Serious side effects, such as acute pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas), have been reported, so if symptoms such as abdominal pain or vomiting occur during use, seek medical attention immediately. The metformin component can very rarely cause life-threatening lactic acidosis, so it should not be taken under conditions of severe dehydration, impaired kidney function, liver disease, or severe infection, and should be discontinued immediately and healthcare professionals notified if symptoms arise. Certain patients, such as those with moderate to severe renal impairment, acute cardiac conditions, or pregnant or breastfeeding women, should not use this medication. Regular kidney function and blood tests should be conducted during treatment, and supplementation may be required if vitamin B12 deficiency occurs. Excessive alcohol consumption should be avoided while taking this medication, and it should be temporarily discontinued prior to surgery or imaging tests involving contrast agents. Additionally, when used with other hypoglycemic agents or insulin, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase, so it is important to watch for symptoms and adjust the dosage according to a doctor's instructions. Care should also be taken in cases of high physical activity or irregular food intake, or when taking other medications concurrently. This medication is not recommended for children under 18 years of age or for pregnant or breastfeeding women. If any abnormal or suspicious symptoms occur during treatment, it is important to consult healthcare professionals immediately.
