Precautions

This medication consists of sitagliptin and metformin and is used for the treatment of diabetes. During treatment, severe allergic reactions may occur, so if symptoms such as skin rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck appear, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional. Additionally, serious inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis) may develop, so if symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting occur, visit the hospital immediately. Patients with severe kidney dysfunction, acute heart failure, severe infections, or dehydration should not use this medication, and should temporarily stop taking it when undergoing tests with contrast agents. It is advisable not to take this medication if pregnant or if there is a possibility of pregnancy, and it is also not recommended for nursing mothers. This medication can cause lactic acidosis, a rare but potentially fatal metabolic complication, so if unexpected muscle pain, difficulty breathing, fatigue, abdominal pain, or lethargy occurs, inform a healthcare provider immediately. Symptoms of hypoglycemia, such as low blood sugar, may also occur, so it is important to avoid skipping meals or excessive exercise, and take appropriate actions if hypoglycemia is suspected. During treatment, regular checks of kidney function and blood tests are recommended to ensure safety, and it is advisable to check vitamin B12 levels periodically. Consumption of alcohol can increase the risk of side effects from this medication, so it should be avoided. If undergoing surgery or in poor condition due to severe infections or trauma, the medication should be temporarily stopped and restarted once health is restored. Take care not to take other medications or dietary supplements without consulting a physician during treatment with this medication. Finally, this medication has not established safety and effectiveness in children under 18 years of age, therefore it is preferable not to use it.
