How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage for this medication is 1 tablet, twice daily. The decision on dosage should consider the current treatment regimen, efficacy, and tolerability for each patient, without exceeding 25 mg of empagliflozin and 2000 mg of metformin. Precautions

This medication is a diabetes treatment that combines two ingredients to help control blood sugar. However, it should not be administered to patients with impaired kidney function or severe infections and dehydration. Additionally, it should not be used in individuals who have an allergic reaction to any of its components. The medication can cause a rare side effect known as severe lactic acidosis, so if symptoms such as difficulty breathing, muscle pain, or weakness arise, consult a doctor immediately. There is a risk of hypoglycemia if taken with insulin or other antidiabetic agents, so blood sugar changes must be monitored carefully. Temporary discontinuation of this medication is necessary in the case of acute illness or prior to and after surgery, resuming only when the patient's condition is stable. Regular kidney function tests should be conducted during treatment, especially in elderly patients or those with weak kidney function. This medication can also lead to urinary and genital infections, so immediate treatment is necessary if related symptoms occur. It is advisable for pregnant or breastfeeding women to avoid this medication. Overdose can lead to severe side effects such as hypoglycemia or lactic acidosis, so the dosage must be strictly followed. Excessive alcohol intake should be avoided during treatment as it may increase the risk of medication side effects. Finally, this medication is not recommended for children and should be kept out of reach of children.
