Hemostatic effect for bleeding (capillary, microvascular)
1. Thrombin freeze-dried powder is primarily used when there is bleeding from small blood vessels or organs, such as during trauma or surgery where it is difficult to stop bleeding. This drug helps to rapidly coagulate blood and effectively stop bleeding. 2. The adhesion prevention coating material is used to prevent adhesion of tissues at the surgical site during spinal surgeries. It is in a gel form stabilized with hyaluronic acid, which maintains its shape for a certain period in the body before gradually being absorbed safely. This helps reduce discomfort or complications caused by adhesions after surgery.
Dissolve 5000 units of thrombin freeze-dried powder in saline to prepare a solution at a concentration of 50–1,000 units/mL, and spray, irrigate, or apply the powder directly to the site of localized bleeding. Adjust the dosage based on the bleeding site and severity. The adhesion prevention coating material should be opened in a sterile location and applied thoroughly to the wound site. Discard any remaining solution after a single use.
This medication contains thrombin, which assists in blood coagulation. It must not be used as an injectable but only for local application. If it enters the bloodstream, it can lead to life-threatening clotting situations. Additionally, caution is required as allergic reactions or severe coagulation disorders may occur when using this drug. Patients who have had hypersensitivity reactions to this medication or are taking certain coagulation-related drugs should not use it. Patients with severe liver dysfunction or bleeding-related diseases, as well as pregnant women, should use it with caution. If any abnormal symptoms such as respiratory distress, skin rash, headache, or vomiting occur during use, immediately discontinue use and consult a doctor. Furthermore, this medication may pose an increased risk of thrombosis when used with certain drugs, so concomitant use should be avoided. Women who are pregnant or could become pregnant should carefully consider the benefits and risks of using this medication, as safety in pediatric populations has not been sufficiently confirmed. When using in solution form, care must be taken to avoid entry into the bloodstream, and it should be used immediately after preparation. This medication is sensitive to acids, bases, heat, and heavy metals, so care should be taken in storage and handling. Additionally, the adhesion prevention coating material used with this drug must be maintained in a sterile condition, and expired sterile products should not be used. Patients with infections at the surgical site or hypersensitivity to this product should not use it. Patients with clotting disorders, those taking specific medications, those in an immunosuppressive state, or those with severe liver or kidney diseases should use this product cautiously. Its use is not recommended during pregnancy, and it is advisable to avoid pregnancy until the first menstruation after use. Infections, allergic reactions, pain, or inflammation may occur during use, so any abnormal symptoms should be reported to medical personnel immediately.
