This medication helps to improve blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes by assisting dietary and exercise regimens. Taking Teneligliptin and Metformin together can effectively lower blood sugar levels. Therefore, it plays an important role in diabetes management and supports healthy blood sugar control for patients.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is generally administered once daily with the evening meal. The 20/1000 mg sustained-release tablet is taken once daily, 1 tablet per dose. The 10/750 mg or 10/500 mg sustained-release tablets are taken once daily, 2 tablets at the same time per dose. The initial dosage provides Teneligliptin 20 mg once a day and the patient's existing dose of Metformin. The maximum recommended dosage per day is Teneligliptin 20 mg and sustained-release Metformin 2000 mg.

Precautions

This medication contains Metformin and Teneligliptin, which help in controlling blood sugar levels. When taking this medication, it is essential to ensure normal kidney function. Patients with impaired kidney function should not use this medication and should regularly undergo kidney function tests. This medication should be stopped in cases of severe infection, trauma, surgery, or acute heart issues or sepsis. Especially before and after tests using iodine contrast agents, this medication should be discontinued at least 48 hours prior and can only be resumed after confirming normal kidney function. It is safest for pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, severely impaired liver function patients, and patients with severe lung disease to avoid this medication. This medication can rarely cause a severe metabolic disorder called lactic acidosis, which can be life-threatening; thus, any unusual symptoms should be promptly discussed with a doctor. Additionally, when used with other diabetes medications, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase, so patients should be well-informed about hypoglycemia symptoms and management. During use, if symptoms such as sudden severe abdominal pain, vomiting, breathing difficulties, or lethargy occur, immediate medical attention is necessary. Excessive alcohol consumption may increase the risk of side effects from this medication; therefore, it is advisable to avoid drinking. Side effects such as dizziness, headache, indigestion, constipation may occur, and if symptoms are severe, consultation with a physician is advised. The safety and efficacy of this medication in children have not been established, so it should not be used in children. Elderly patients may experience decreased kidney function, so dose adjustment and regular kidney function tests are necessary. In case of overdose, immediate medical attention should be sought, and dialysis may be beneficial. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers.
