Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication helps control blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes by using Teneligliptin and Metformin together. It is effective for patients who combine dietary therapy and exercise, and is used to stabilize blood sugar levels.
This medication is generally administered once a day with the evening meal, and the dosage is titrated stepwise to reduce gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin. The 20/1000 mg controlled-release tablet is taken once daily, 1 tablet at a time. Patients taking the 10/750 mg or 10/500 mg controlled-release tablets take 2 tablets at once, once daily. For patients who are not able to adequately control blood sugar levels with monotherapy from metformin, the initial dose of this medication should provide Teneligliptin 20 mg once daily and the existing dosing of metformin. In patients switching from combination therapy of Teneligliptin and Metformin to this medication, the dosage can be initiated based on the existing dosing of Teneligliptin and Metformin. When converting from immediate-release metformin to controlled-release preparations, blood sugar control should be closely monitored, and the dosage should be properly adjusted. When administered with sulfonylureas, it may be considered to reduce the dose of sulfonylureas to decrease the risk of hypoglycemia. The maximum recommended daily dose is Teneligliptin 20 mg and controlled-release metformin 2000 mg. The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been specifically evaluated in patients switching from other hypoglycemic agents. Changes in treatment for patients with type 2 diabetes should be made under careful monitoring, as it may induce changes in blood sugar control. To maintain the controlled-release characteristics, this medication should be swallowed whole without dividing, crushing, grinding, or chewing.
This medication is used for the treatment of diabetes and has the effect of lowering blood sugar. However, very rarely, it can cause a serious side effect called lactic acidosis, so it should not be used especially in patients with impaired kidney function or severe heart disease. Additionally, if this medication is used with other diabetes medications, there may be a risk of hypoglycemia, so caution is required. Patients with decreased kidney function should not use this medication, and it should be discontinued for a while before surgery or examinations using radiopaque contrast agents. Patients with severely impaired liver function or those in poor health due to severe infections or trauma should also avoid this medication. It is also safe for pregnant women and women who may become pregnant to avoid taking this medication. During the use of this medication, it is important to be aware of the symptoms of hypoglycemia and lactic acidosis and consult a doctor immediately if symptoms occur. Regular blood tests to check kidney function and vitamin B12 levels are important. Alcohol can increase the risk of side effects of this medication, so it should be avoided while taking it. Elderly patients may experience decreased kidney function, so dose adjustment and regular monitoring are necessary. There may be potential interactions with other medications while taking this medication, so if you are taking other medications, you must inform your doctor or pharmacist. If severe abdominal pain, vomiting, shortness of breath, skin rash, or blisters occur during administration, seek immediate treatment. This medication has not been confirmed for safety and efficacy in children and should not be used by them. Finally, this medication should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers.
