Effectiveness in controlling blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes and preventing cardiovascular incidents
This medication can be used alongside diet and exercise therapy to help control blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. In particular, this medication helps effectively lower blood sugar levels by combining empagliflozin and metformin. Furthermore, it must be used with caution in adult type 2 diabetes patients with cardiovascular disease when adequate blood sugar control is not achieved. It is important to check the clinical trial information related to the risk of cardiovascular events. This medication is used to improve blood sugar control and assist in diabetes management.
The recommended dose for this medication is 1 tablet per dose, 2 doses per day. The dosage should be determined considering the current treatment regimen, efficacy, and tolerability of each patient, without exceeding the maximum recommended daily doses of 25 mg of empagliflozin and 2000 mg of metformin. In cases where patients cannot achieve adequate blood sugar control with metformin alone or in combination with insulin or other medications, the recommended dosage is 5 mg of empagliflozin taken twice daily (total daily amount of 10 mg).
This medication helps control blood sugar. However, a rare side effect called severe lactic acidosis may occur while taking this medication, which requires caution. Lactic acidosis can lead to a serious condition if lactic acid builds up in the body, so immediate consultation with a doctor is necessary if sudden muscle pain, weakness, difficulty breathing, abdominal pain, or other symptoms occur while taking this medication. When used with insulin or other diabetes medications, the risk of hypoglycemia, i.e., excessively low blood sugar, may occur, so blood sugar levels must be carefully monitored. Individuals with poor kidney function, acute kidney problems, severe infections, dehydration, heart failure, or acute myocardial infarction should not take this medication. It is necessary to temporarily stop taking this medication before and after tests using iodine contrast agents and to resume it only after confirming normal kidney function. Women who are pregnant or nursing are advised not to take this medication. Additionally, there may be an increased risk of urinary tract infections or genital infections while taking this medication, so immediate treatment should be sought if any infection symptoms appear. Furthermore, this medication can cause a reduction in fluid volume, so individuals experiencing dehydration or low blood pressure should exercise caution. Since vitamin B12 deficiency may occur, it is advisable to regularly check serum vitamin B12 levels during prolonged use. Excessive drinking or alcohol consumption may increase the risk of lactic acidosis, so it should be avoided. Elderly patients or those with impaired kidney function should adjust the dose of this medication and monitor kidney function regularly. To prevent hypoglycemia, meals should be taken regularly, and appropriate nutritional intake after exercise is necessary. Possible interactions with other medications may occur while taking this medication, so consult a doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines. Lastly, this medication is not recommended for children, and it should be stored out of reach of children.

Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a sealed container to prevent exposure to air or moisture, and it is best stored at room temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius. Proper storage helps maintain the medication's effectiveness and ensures safe use.
