How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose of this medication is 1 tablet once, twice a day. The maximum recommended daily dosage for each ingredient does not exceed 25 mg of Empagliflozin and 2000 mg of Metformin. If blood glucose control is insufficient with Metformin alone or in combination with other medications such as insulin, start with 5 mg of Empagliflozin twice a day (total daily amount of 10 mg) and the existing dosage of Metformin. Precautions

This medication is used for the treatment of diabetes, and the two ingredients work together to control blood glucose levels. There is a risk of rare side effects such as severe lactic acidosis when using this medication, so caution is needed. Lactic acidosis is a dangerous condition caused by excessive accumulation of lactic acid in the body, and symptoms may include difficulty breathing, abdominal pain, and lethargy. Additionally, when taken with other diabetes medications like insulin or sulfonylureas, hypoglycemia may occur, so blood glucose levels should be carefully monitored. Patients with poor kidney function or acute kidney issues, severe infections, heart failure, or acute myocardial infarction should not take this medication. Patients who are scheduled for surgery or tests involving iodine contrast agents should stop taking this medication for a certain period and may resume only after kidney function has returned to normal. This medication may cause fluid volume loss, so extra caution is needed when experiencing symptoms of dehydration, diarrhea, or vomiting. It is advisable for pregnant or breastfeeding women to avoid this medication, and elderly patients may require regular check-ups due to the possibility of declining kidney function. During treatment, urinary or genital infections may occur, so patients should consult a doctor immediately if symptoms arise. Vitamin B12 levels may decrease, so regular blood tests are recommended for long-term use. Alcohol consumption may increase the risk of side effects of this medication and should be avoided. If symptoms of hypoglycemia (such as dizziness, cold sweat, fatigue) occur while taking this medication, blood glucose should be checked immediately and appropriate measures should be taken if necessary. Lastly, this medication is not recommended for children, and in cases of overdose, immediate medical attention should be sought. To use this medication safely, regular kidney function tests and blood glucose monitoring are important, and it should be taken as directed by a doctor.
