Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

For patients receiving 100 mg of sitagliptin and 10 mg of dapagliflozin, one tablet may be taken once daily regardless of meals. The tablet should be swallowed whole.

Precautions

This medication contains sitagliptin and dapagliflozin, which are used in the treatment of diabetes. First, sitagliptin can rarely cause severe allergic reactions, so if symptoms such as skin rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck occur, it is important to stop taking the medication immediately and consult healthcare professionals. Additionally, this medication may cause acute pancreatitis, an inflammation of the pancreas, so if severe abdominal pain, vomiting, or fever occurs, it is essential to inform a physician immediately. This medication is not used in patients with Type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, or certain genetic lactose intolerances. Patients with impaired kidney function, those on dialysis, and those with reduced blood volume should use this medication with caution, and monitor kidney function and blood pressure both before and during treatment. Dapagliflozin can decrease body fluid volume and lower blood pressure, which requires extra caution for patients at risk for dehydration or hypotension, and if dehydration symptoms arise, temporary cessation of medication may be necessary. This medication may increase the risk of genital and urinary tract infections, so if symptoms of infection appear, prompt treatment is required. In particular, diabetic ketoacidosis, a serious metabolic disturbance, can occur rarely, so if symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, difficulty breathing, or fatigue arise, it is crucial to inform healthcare professionals immediately. Moreover, if this medication is taken in conjunction with other hypoglycemic agents such as insulin or sulfonylureas, there may be an increased risk of hypoglycemia, so it is necessary to be aware of hypoglycemic symptoms and adjust the doses of other medications as needed. Elderly patients or those with reduced kidney function require dosage adjustments and regular monitoring of kidney function. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised not to use this medication, and it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. In case of overdose, as there are no specific antidotes, appropriate treatment should be administered based on symptoms, with attention to serious hypoglycemia or dehydration symptoms. Lastly, the safety and efficacy of this medication in children have not been established, so it should not be used in individuals under 18 years of age. During the use of this medication, caution is advised while driving or operating machinery due to the risk of accidents from hypoglycemic symptoms. Store this medication out of reach of children, in its original container to maintain its quality.
