This medication helps type 2 diabetes patients control blood sugar levels more effectively when used in conjunction with meal planning and exercise. It assists in the stable management of blood sugar levels by co-administering sitagliptin and dapagliflozin. Therefore, this medication is used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

This medication can be taken at a dose of one tablet once daily, regardless of meals, for patients receiving sitagliptin 100 mg and dapagliflozin 10 mg. The tablet should be swallowed whole.

Precautions

This medication may cause allergic reactions, so patients with a history of allergy to this medication or its components should not take it. If symptoms such as skin rash, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or neck occur after administration, the medication should be stopped immediately and a doctor consulted. Acute pancreatitis, a serious inflammation of the pancreas, may occur, so if symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, and loss of appetite arise during treatment, healthcare professionals should be notified immediately. Patients with impaired kidney function or those undergoing dialysis may require dosage adjustments and in some cases should avoid taking this medication. Patients at risk of dehydration or low blood pressure, especially the elderly or those on diuretics, should regularly check their blood pressure and fluid status before and during treatment. There is a risk of hypoglycemia; therefore, if taken together with insulin or sulfonylureas, dosage adjustments may be necessary. The risk of genital infections and urinary tract infections may increase, so patients should seek treatment immediately if infection symptoms appear. Pregnant or nursing women are advised not to use this medication, and it should be discontinued if pregnancy is confirmed. Safety and efficacy have not been established for children and adolescents under 18, so it should not be used in this population. There is no specific antidote for overdose, so patients should go to the hospital immediately for appropriate treatment, and the possibility of removal through dialysis is low.
