Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

This medication may be administered to patients receiving sitagliptin 100 mg and dapagliflozin 10 mg as one tablet once daily regardless of meals. The tablet should be swallowed whole.

Precautions

This medication contains sitagliptin and dapagliflozin and is used for diabetes treatment. First, when taking this medication, severe allergic reactions may occur, so if symptoms such as skin rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck occur, the medication should be stopped immediately and a doctor consulted. Additionally, this medication carries a risk of pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas, so if symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting occur, medical personnel should be notified promptly. This medication is not administered to patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, or those receiving dialysis. Patients with impaired kidney function or the elderly may require dose adjustments while taking this medication, and blood pressure and kidney function should be periodically monitored, especially if at risk of hypovolemia or hypotension. This medication helps with blood sugar control, but caution is needed as the risk of hypoglycemia may increase if taken with other diabetic medications such as insulin or sulfonylureas. Urinary or genital infections may occur while taking this medication, so treatment should be sought immediately if related symptoms arise. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding are advised to avoid this medication, particularly during breastfeeding, as it may affect the baby. Elderly individuals should undergo regular kidney function tests due to the possibility of declining kidney function, and attention should also be paid to symptoms of hypotension due to decreased fluid volume. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so appropriate treatment based on symptoms is important. Finally, this medication does not greatly affect the ability to drive or operate machinery, but caution is necessary for hypoglycemic symptoms when taken with other hypoglycemic agents. Patients taking this medication should regularly consult with their doctor and report any unusual symptoms immediately.
