Treatment of erosive gastroesophageal reflux disease
This medication helps to treat esophageal mucosal damage in patients with erosive gastroesophageal reflux disease and alleviates heartburn and pain associated with reflux. It controls gastric acid secretion to prevent recurrence and improves patients' quality of life. Therefore, it is used for the treatment of erosive gastroesophageal reflux disease.
Administer 40mg orally once daily for 4 weeks. For patients whose esophagitis has not healed or whose symptoms persist, continue treatment for an additional 4 weeks. This medicine may be administered with or without food.
This medication should not be used in certain patients. Additionally, patients taking specific antiviral drugs such as Atazanavir, Nelfinavir, or Rilpivirine should not take this medication. It is also advised that pregnant or breastfeeding women avoid using this drug. Since this medication contains lactose, patients with lactose intolerance or genetic lactose degradation enzyme deficiency should not take it. Patients with liver or kidney function problems, elderly patients, and patients allergic to Yellow No. 4 (Tartrazine) should exercise extra caution when using this medication. Rarely, dizziness, myalgia, cataracts, and runny nose may occur, and patients should consult medical personnel if they experience any abnormal symptoms. This medication reduces stomach acid, which may lead to bacterial growth in the gastrointestinal tract and slightly increase the risk of intestinal infections. Particularly in hospitalized patients, there may be a higher risk of diarrhea due to Clostridium difficile, so if diarrhea persists, it should be reported to medical personnel. Long-term use of this medication may weaken bones and increase the risk of fractures, so patients at risk of osteoporosis should have their condition monitored regularly. Additionally, prolonged use of this medication may lead to decreased serum magnesium levels, which can cause muscle cramps, arrhythmias, and seizures, so regular blood tests are required for those who take it for an extended period or take other medications that can lower magnesium levels. This medication changes gastric acidity and may affect the absorption of other medications; caution is required when taken with certain antiviral drugs. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take this medication, and those who are nursing should suspend breastfeeding. Safety and effectiveness in children and adolescents have not been sufficiently established. For patients with impaired renal or liver function, the safety and efficacy of this medication have not been sufficiently validated, so caution is necessary. If this medication is taken in excess, no severe symptoms have been reported, but the patient's condition should be closely monitored, and appropriate treatment should be provided as needed.
