Adult dose
For oral administration. Use in adult men The recommended dose of this medicine is 10mg, taken with or without food before anticipated sexual activity. For patients in whom tadalafil 10mg does not provide an adequate effect, 20 mg may be tried. This medicine may be administered starting at least 30 minutes before sexual activity. The maximum recommended dosing frequency is once daily. Long-term safety after extended daily dosing has not been established, and because the effect of this medicine usually lasts for more than one day, continuous daily administration of this medicine is strongly discouraged. [See section 1. Warnings and section 11.1) Pharmacodynamic properties] Use in elderly men No dosage adjustments are required in elderly patients. Use in men with renal impairment No dosage adjustment is required in patients with mild to moderate renal impairment. The maximum recommended dose in patients with severe renal impairment is 10mg. [See section 11.2) Pharmacokinetic properties]. Use in men with hepatic impairment The recommended dose of this product is 10mg, taken with or without food before anticipated sexual activity. Since clinical data on the safety of this product in patients with severe hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh Class C) are limited, if prescribing it, the physician should carefully assess the individual benefit/risk. There are no data on administration of doses higher than 10mg to patients with hepatic impairment. [See section 3. Patients requiring caution and section 11.2) Pharmacokinetic properties]. Use in men with diabetes No dosage adjustment is required in patients with diabetes.

Precautions

This medication is used as a treatment for erectile dysfunction, and prior to use, a diagnosis and physical examination by a physician is required. Sexual activity may put strain on the heart, so patients with cardiovascular disease should consult their physician before taking this medication. If an erection persists for more than 4 hours after taking this medication, immediate medical attention should be sought, as untreated prolonged erection can lead to tissue damage in the penis and loss of erectile function. This medication can dangerously lower blood pressure when taken in combination with nitrates, hence patients taking nitrate preparations should not use this medication. Patients who have had serious cardiovascular diseases such as myocardial infarction, angina, or stroke recently should not use this medication. This medicine may affect sperm production, so if taken for a prolonged period, consultation with a physician is advised. Patients with certain vascular disorders or genetic retinal diseases should use this medication cautiously or avoid it. It is not recommended to take this medication with other erectile dysfunction treatments due to unproven safety. This medication contains lactose, thus patients who are lactose intolerant should refrain from taking it. If sudden vision loss or hearing reduction occurs during treatment, stop the medication immediately and seek medical evaluation. This medication is primarily metabolized in the liver, so patients with severely impaired liver or kidney function may need dosage adjustment or should avoid taking it. Taking this medication with alcohol may lower blood pressure or cause dizziness; therefore, caution is advised. In case of an overdose of this medication, immediately visit a healthcare facility for appropriate treatment; blood dialysis may not be effective. Store out of reach of children and keep it in its original packaging. The effects of this medication while driving or operating machinery are minimal, but caution should be exercised as dizziness may occur in some individuals.
