Treatment of erectile dysfunction
This medication is used to treat erectile dysfunction and requires sexual stimulation to be effective. It is not used for women, thus helping to improve male erectile dysfunction symptoms.
Use in adult men The recommended dose of this medicine is 10mg, taken with or without food before anticipated sexual activity. For patients in whom tadalafil 10mg does not provide an adequate effect, 20 mg may be tried. This medicine may be taken at least 30 minutes before sexual activity. The maximum recommended dosing frequency is once daily. Long-term safety after extended daily dosing has not been established, and because the effect of this medicine usually lasts for more than one day, continuous daily administration is strongly discouraged. [See section 1. Warnings and section 11.1) Pharmacodynamic properties] Use in older men No dosage adjustment is required in older patients. Use in men with renal impairment No dose adjustment is required in patients with mild to moderate renal impairment. The maximum recommended dose in patients with severe renal impairment is 10mg. [See section 11.2) Pharmacokinetic properties]. Use in men with hepatic impairment The recommended dose of this product is 10mg, taken with or without food before anticipated sexual activity. Clinical data on the safety of this product in patients with severe hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh Class C) are limited; therefore, if prescribing, the physician should carefully assess the individual benefit/risk. There are no data on administering doses higher than 10mg to patients with hepatic impairment. [See section 3. Use with caution in the following patients and section 11.2) Pharmacokinetic properties]. Use in men with diabetes No dose adjustment is required in patients with diabetes.
Under 18 years of age: This product should not be used.
This drug is an erectile dysfunction treatment, and the underlying cause must be determined through a doctor's examination before use. Sexual activity may put strain on the heart, and a doctor must determine if the cardiovascular condition is stable. If an erection lasts longer than 4 hours, seek immediate medical assistance, as untreated cases may lead to damage to penile tissue and loss of erectile function. While taking this medication, avoid using nitrates or NO donors as they may excessively lower blood pressure. Patients with serious cardiovascular diseases such as myocardial infarction or stroke or those with a recent history of cardiac issues should not take this medication. It may affect sperm formation, so consult a doctor for long-term use. Patients with specific heart conditions may be sensitive to this drug, so caution is required. Patients who regularly take organic nitrate preparations, those with severe heart conditions, or patients with certain retinal diseases should not take this medication. It is not recommended to combine this medication with other erectile dysfunction treatments or if there is a hypersensitivity to it. Patients with genetic lactose intolerance should avoid this drug. Patients with penile deformities or certain blood disorders should be cautious when taking this medication, and those with severely impaired kidney or liver function require care as well. Caution and dose adjustment are necessary when using alongside alpha-blockers or strong CYP3A4 inhibitors. This drug is only effective with sexual stimulation and can be taken regardless of meals. After taking this medication, side effects such as dizziness, headaches, dyspepsia, back pain, muscle pain, flushing, and limb pain may occur, so consult a doctor if symptoms are severe. If sudden loss of vision or hearing occurs while taking this medication, it should be discontinued immediately and medical attention sought. In case of overdose, standard treatment should be administered, as blood dialysis has little effect on the elimination of this drug. Keep out of reach of children and maintain it in its original packaging. There is no significant effect on driving or machinery operation, but one should be aware of their condition and exercise caution.
