Who takes it
Adults
Adult dose
The potential risks and benefits of this medication and alternative treatments should be considered before treatment is started. As cardiovascular risk increases with higher doses and longer exposure, use this medication for the shortest possible duration. Adverse reactions such as hypertension, congestive heart failure, and edema may occur during treatment. Reassess at least monthly whether treatment should be continued based on symptom relief and the patient's response to treatment. This medication may be taken with or without food. Adults: The recommended dose is 30 mg once daily. Do not exceed 30mg per day. If there is no therapeutic benefit at the recommended dose, discontinue this medication and consider an appropriate alternative treatment. Patients with hepatic impairment: No dosage adjustment is necessary in patients with mild or moderate hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh score 5-9). However, use caution because experience with this medication in patients with moderate hepatic impairment is limited. Do not use this medication in patients with severe hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh score >9), as there is no experience with its use in these patients. Patients with renal impairment: No dosage adjustment is necessary in patients with mild or moderate renal impairment (creatinine clearance of 30 mL/min or greater). Do not use this medication in patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance below 30 mL/min). Elderly patients: No dosage adjustment is necessary in elderly patients.

Osteoarthritis (degenerative arthritis) can cause discomfort in movement due to inflammation and pain in the joints. This medication helps relieve pain and inflammation by selectively inhibiting the COX-2 enzyme. However, before using this medication, it is essential to assess each patient's health status and risk factors. This ensures that symptoms can be managed safely, improving quality of life. Consequently, this medication is used for the relief of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis.

Precautions

This medication may pose a risk of gastrointestinal bleeding in individuals who regularly consume more than three glasses of alcohol daily; hence it is crucial to consult with a doctor or pharmacist before use. This medication can cause heart and vascular issues, potentially increasing the risk of serious cardiovascular diseases such as myocardial infarction or stroke; therefore, it is vital to take the minimum effective dose for the shortest duration possible. As this medication can cause ulcers or bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract, immediate medical attention is required if symptoms such as abdominal pain, indigestion, black stools, or vomiting blood occur. Patients with hypersensitivity, asthma, uncontrolled hypertension, severe liver or kidney disease, and pregnant or breastfeeding women should not use this medication. For patients with compromised liver or kidney function or conditions such as heart disease, hypertension, or diabetes, careful use is necessary, and regular health assessments under a doctor’s guidance are essential. This medication may cause dizziness or drowsiness; therefore, it is advisable to avoid driving or operating machinery after taking it. Interactions with other medications may occur, so it is essential to inform the doctor or pharmacist about concurrent use of anticoagulants, diuretics, blood pressure medications, antibiotics, or oral contraceptives. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should consult before taking this medication, as it may affect reproductive ability, and should discontinue use immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Safety and efficacy have not been established for children; thus, it is not recommended for use in individuals under 18 years. Elderly patients may have a higher risk of decreased liver, kidney, or heart function while taking this medication, and adverse reactions may appear more frequently. For patients on long-term treatment with this medication, regular blood tests and liver and kidney function assessments are required, and any unusual symptoms should be promptly reported to a doctor. In case of overdose, symptoms may include lethargy, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, with severe cases leading to renal failure or respiratory depression requiring immediate emergency treatment. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, and transferring to other containers may not maintain quality, so caution is needed.
