This medication is a dietary supplement developed for patients with hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia. It primarily lowers total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo-B protein, and triglyceride levels while raising HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. It is especially effective for pediatric patients aged 10 to 16 with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. It is used in children when the LDL cholesterol levels are above certain thresholds, there is a family history of early cardiovascular disease, or other risk factors are present. This medication helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases as an adjunct to dietary therapy. Therefore, it is used to improve cholesterol management and enhance cardiovascular health.
