View approved original text

This medication is used to enhance blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes. It typically serves as an adjunct to diet and exercise regimens, and can be administered alone. If there is no prior experience with diabetes medication and blood sugar control is difficult with monotherapy, it can be used in combination with metformin. Additionally, it can be added to patients who do not achieve adequate blood sugar control with any of the following mono therapies: sulfonylureas, metformin, thiazolidinediones, or insulin. This medication aids in improving blood sugar regulation across various treatment combinations.
